Road Trip to Washington DC: November 1969

Photo contributed by Dave (Ace) Brigode

Dave writes that this photograph was taken on the way back from the November Moratorium in 1969, probably somewhere in Pennsylvania.

Stewart Lachman writes:

Co-conspirators L-R: Chuck House, unknown (let us know if you remember who it is), Stu Lachman, Wayne Leblong, John Hunt. Jack Pense (on roof). Dave Brigode, photographer.

Transportation: 1959 Olds Super 88 sky blue w/white top, cost $55 in '69. Equipment: radio, heater, 398 engine, no springs, no shocks, no muffler.

Wayne and Chuck lived in Snyder 3rd floor somewhere if I remember---I was in Snyder 342.

And Wayne Leblong confirms his presence in the photo (and the trip) as follows:

...I did not recall any photos being taken of that trip. I remember that it took 10 years to get to Cadiz, Ohio and that we had to get a flat fixed in Redneck, W. Virginia. That photo is a classic. I have told my kids of this trip and now have proof....(besides the Vietcong flag that I kept after I grabbed from the steets of DC earlier in the trip). I recall how Chuck, I, and ? (not sure who was #3), hitchhiked to DC and about an hour into the trip we discovered that we had about $1.98 between us....Nobody wanted to cash our personsal checks so when we got to DC, Chuck went into a DC bank and opened an account with a Lansing check at one branch and we walked down to another and took all but a few cents out at the other branch a few minutes later...we beat the $ system sort of that day!
